Since 2012, we have been pioneers in exposed and offshore salmon farming, and we continue to set new standards for the future of aquaculture. It all began with some sketches on a table out on Frøya, which resulted in Ocean Farm 1 – the world’s first offshore fish farm. Today, we are in our fourth production cycle, with highly promising biological results that demonstrate the potential of this adventure.
In 2021, we took a significant step forward when Aker joined as a shareholder and formed SalMar Aker Ocean. Together, we will drive the development forward, aiming to lead the way in the evolution of exposed and offshore farming. Our expertise was further strengthened in 2023 when we acquired Arctic Offshore Farming, which operates in Norway’s most exposed location off the coast of Tromsø. The technology using submersible cages broadens our knowledge and experience even further.
